Three patients had been killed and many individuals had been injured, two of them critically, in a fire that broke out in a single day at a hospital in the German metropolis of Hamburg, authorities mentioned Sunday (June 1, 2025).

Firefighters had been alerted to the blaze at the hospital, the Marienkrankenhaus, shortly after midnight. It broke out in a room in the geriatric ward, on the bottom ground of the constructing, and unfold to the facade of the ground above. Smoke unfold throughout the constructing’s 4 flooring.

It wasn’t instantly clear what brought on the fire.

The fire division mentioned that three grownup patients had been killed and greater than 50 individuals injured, the German information company dpa reported. Of these, two had been in life-threatening situation, 16 had severe accidents and 36 had been barely damage.

A piece of the hospital needed to be evacuated. Injured patients had been handled both at the hospital itself or in close by clinics. The fire was extinguished inside about 20 minutes.
