After receiving inputs about potential violent demonstrations, the Kolkata Police on Friday (May 1, 2026) determined to impose prohibitory orders for 60 days from May 3 in elements of the town’s central business district, an official order stated.

The order was issued forward of the May 4 counting of votes in the Assembly elections.
