Investors lose over Rs 7 lakh cr in four days as markets slump over Trump's tariff concerns

NEW DELHI: Buyers misplaced Rs 7.68 lakh crore from their wealth after a 4 day massacre on the Dalal road, over withdrawal of international funds and tariff warfare considerations.
Over this era, the BSE benchmark Sensex plunged by 1,272.01 factors, or 1.61 per cent and the full market capitalisation of BSE-listed corporations dropped to Rs 4,17,82,573.79 crore.
Markets resulted in pink after US President Donald Trump introduced plans to impose contemporary tariffs on all metal and aluminium imports into the nation, alongside extra reciprocal tariffs.
“Indian benchmark indices noticed a major decline following this assertion,” stated Ameya Ranadive, chartered market technician and senior technical analyst at StoxBox.
On Monday, the BSE Sensex fell 548.39 factors (0.70 per cent), closing at 77,311.80, its lowest in every week. In intra-day, the index dipped 753.3 factors or 0.96 per cent, to 77,106.89.
“Markets displayed pessimism since early trades as shares crumbed amid subdued company earnings and the continuing uncertainty over world tariff warfare,” stated Prashanth Tapse, senior VP (analysis) at Mehta Equities Ltd.
Among the many 30 Sensex shares, Energy Grid, Tata Metal, Zomato, Titan, Bajaj Finance, NTPC, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Tata Motors have been the largest laggards.
However, Kotak Mahindra Financial institution, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Financial institution, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, and Tata Consultancy Providers managed to hint an upward momentum.
“The US tariff threats continued to influence the market sentiment. Home yield is inching increased as traders keep cautious on riskier belongings and navigate their investments to protected haven belongings like gold,” stated Vinod Nair, head of analysis at Geojit Monetary Providers.
The BSE smallcap index fell 2.25 per cent, whereas the midcap index dropped 2.06 per cent. All sectoral indices completed in pink:
