The Taliban on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) criticised neighbouring countries for the mass expulsion of Afghans, as Iran and Pakistan expel foreigners who they are saying reside there illegally.
The two countries set deadlines and threatened them with arrest or deportation if they didn’t comply. They deny focusing on Afghans, who make up important numbers in each countries.
Abdul Rahman Rashid, the Taliban authorities’s deputy minister for refugees and repatriation, rebuked host countries for the mass expulsions and described the removing of Afghans as a “serious violation of international norms, humanitarian principles, and Islamic values.”
“The scale and manner in which Afghan refugees have been forced to return to their homeland is something Afghanistan has never before experienced in its history,” Mr. Rashid instructed a press convention in Kabul.
Nearly 1.8 million Afghans had been forcibly returned from Iran up to now three months alone. An extra 184,459 had been despatched again from Pakistan and over 5,000 had been deported from Türkiye for the reason that starting of the 12 months.
