India women’s squad for ODI World Cup 2025: Shafali misses out; Renuka and Amanjot get the nod

Experienced pacer Renuka Singh and key all-rounder Amanjot Kaur have returned to health simply in time for the women’s ODI World Cup.

While the duo has been chosen in India’s squad for the World Cup, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30, opener Shafali Verma continues to be excluded from the ODI set-up.

The squad for the World Cup and the previous three-match ODI collection in opposition to Australia was chosen by the nationwide women’s choice committee, headed by Neetu David.

Besides the selectors, the assembly was attended by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and head coach Amol Muzumdar.

Harmanpreet confirmed that Amanjot is recovering from a number of niggles at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. As a consequence, she hasn’t been named for the collection in opposition to Australia. Renuka missed the Women’s Premier League as a consequence of a stress fracture that was identified final December and shall be in motion in opposition to Australia.

Neetu careworn the selectors are intently monitoring Shafali’s efficiency.

“Shafali played the Australia-A series. She is in the system. We have got our eyes on her. We hope she plays a lot more and garners experience, as it will help her serve India in the 50-overs format.”
