Manikanta Hoblidhar bettered his two-year-old meet file as he clocked India’s second-fastest time, 10.19, on his approach to win the lads’s 100m title in the National Open athletics championships on the Birsa Munda Stadium, Morabadi, right here on Sunday.
On a rain-affected day, former National file holder Manikanta, who equalled the meet file (10.23, achieved in Bengaluru) in the semifinals, carried out with consistency and confidence to thwart the problem from second-placed Pranav Gurav (10.31) and third-positioned Harsh Raut (10.38) in a high quality subject. The 24-year-old was 0.01 off Animesh Kujur’s National file.
“I was aiming for 10.10, but the wet track slowed down my pace. My target is to get an individual medal at the 2026 Asian Games,” stated Manikanta, whose earlier private greatest was 10.22.
