Legendary singer Asha Bhosle died at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday (April 12, 2026). She was 92. Hospital officers stated the trigger of loss of life was multi-organ failure following a cardiac arrest.
Asha Bhosle has recorded songs in additional than ten Indian languages. She started singing at the age of 10 and first music was “ Chala Chala Nav Bala” for the 1943 Marathi movie Majha Bal. She entered Hindi cinema 5 years later with “ Saawan Aaya” in Chunariya (1948). Her work in Naya Daur (1957) introduced her wider recognition. Over her profession, she recorded extra songs than some other feminine singer of her time. The Guinness World Records recognised her for the most studio recordings. She obtained the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan.
Bhosle, the youthful sister of the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, has recorded over 12,500 songs in numerous languages over a profession spanning eight decades, lending her voice to main women from Meena Kumari, Madhubala and Zeenat Aman to Kajol, Urmila Matondkar and South stars like Padmini and Vyjayanthimala.
Among her most memorable songs are “ Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar”, “ In Ankhon Ki Masti”, “ Dil Cheez Kya Hai”, “ Piya Tu Ab To Aaja”, “ Duniya Mein Logon Ko” and “ Zaara Se Jhoom Loon Main”.
In 2023, she carried out at a particular live performance, ‘ASHA@90: Live in concert’, in Dubai to rejoice her ninetieth birthday.
