India stable destination for long-term capital: Sebi chief Pandey | Markets News

India’s capital markets are more and more being recognised as a stable, resilient, and globally aggressive destination for long-term capital, even amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainties and market volatility, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), mentioned on the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings. 

 


Speaking at an interplay organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the US-India Business Council, Pandey highlighted that India’s markets have turn out to be a structural pillar of the monetary system, with robust macroeconomic fundamentals and deepening investor participation.

 


He emphasised Sebi’s facilitative and risk-based regulatory strategy, citing reforms comparable to T+1 settlement, sooner IPO timelines, and simpler entry for international traders, which have improved transparency and decreased friction.
