Congress chief Pawan Khera in Supreme Court on Thursday (April 30, 2026) accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of enjoying the “Constitutional Rambo or Constitutional cowboy” by utilizing the State’s energy of arrest to personally humiliate him.
The Assam Police has registered a legal case towards Mr. Khera for his remarks in a press convention towards the Chief Minister’s spouse, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma. The Congress chief had alleged that Ms. Sharma held a number of passports and appreciable belongings overseas.
Mr. Khera, who’s dealing with fees of forgery, legal conspiracy and defamation, has appealed the Supreme Court for anticipatory bail. He had moved the apex court docket urgently on Sunday (April 26, 2026), a few days after the Gauhati High Court denied him any reduction in the case.
