A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck southeastern Afghanistan on Sunday (August 31, 2025), the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) mentioned.

Nine individuals had been killed and 25 others had been injured within the eastern province of Nangahar, in response to Ajmal Darwaish, spokesman for the province’s well being division.

The quake was at a depth of 10 km, GFZ mentioned.
