MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to elevate a proper protest against Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi after he reportedly took the Asia Cup trophy with him following India’s refusal to settle for it in Dubai on Sunday.Speaking to TOI, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated, “We had decided not to take the trophy from the ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who happens to be Pakistan’s Interior Minister. However, that does not mean that the gentleman will take away the trophy.” He confirmed that India’s representatives, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla and Ashish Shelar, would elevate the problem within the ACC assembly in Dubai on Tuesday. “Our two representatives are going to raise a serious objection against the chairperson of the ACC for illegally retaining the trophy. He has no right to keep it,” Saikia added.If the ACC doesn’t pay heed to the BCCI’s deep concern on the problem, the BCCI will take its grievance to the ICC.He additional acknowledged, “I hope that good sense will prevail upon Naqvi and he will give the trophy and the medals to us.
