BPCL, Sembcorp form JV for green hydrogen, renewables

NEW DELHI: State-run Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) on Monday will form an equal three way partnership with Sembcorp for green hydrogen manufacturing in addition to different renewable power initiatives in India and elsewhere.
Sembcorp will execute the three way partnership by way of its wholly-owned subsidiary Green Hydrogen India Pvt Ltd. The JV will leverage Sembcorp’s expertise in renewables and BPCL’s expertise within the petroleum sector and its infrastructure.
The JV can even pursue initiatives for green ammonia manufacturing and bunkering, emissions discount for port operations and different rising green gas applied sciences.
BPCL chairman G Krishnakumar mentioned the JV assist India’s local weather targets and the corporate’s 2040 net-zero goal with a ten GW renewable power portfolio.
Sembcorp CEO (West) Vipul Tuli mentioned with deal with figuring out alternatives to assist decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors, Sembcorp is dedicated to delivering scalable, low-carbon options for a sustainable future.
Sembcorp is pursuing the usage of green hydrogen and ammonia as key decarbonisation pathways. With 6GW of renewables property in India, Sembcorp is well-positioned to allow large-scale, low-cost green hydrogen manufacturing.
