Party leaders accused the poll body of cutting millions of names from electoral rolls, stating that more than three crore names were removed in Uttar Pradesh. The party cited state voter figures of 15 crore 41 lakh during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Detailing constituency-level discrepancies, Rajendra Pal Gautam claimed that in the Pilibhit Sadar Assembly constituency, 13,150 voters’ names were altered, 804 names were deleted, and approximately 2,600 names of non-resident individuals were added between July and September, following the release of the final draft list on April 10.

Supriya Shrinate noted that UP Minister and Pilibhit Sadar MLA Sanjay Gangwar won the previous assembly election by a margin of 6,930 votes, contrasting it with the more than 16,000 voter names involved in the recent revisions in that constituency. Shrinate also questioned software functionality and data access, referencing Election Commission chief Gyanesh Kumar and Seema Khanna.

In response to the alleged discrepancies, senior Congress figures announced plans to challenge the electoral roll revisions. Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ stated that the party will seek legal advice to fight the matter legally, while Imran Masood confirmed that Congress will raise the issue in court to protect citizens’ voting rights.
