Delhi Capitals names Faf du Plessis as vice-captain

South African batting stalwart Faf du Plessis was appointed vice-captain of the Delhi Capitals workforce for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season starting on March 22.

The former South Africa captain will likely be Axar Patel’s deputy within the Delhi-based franchise. Axar was named DC captain on Friday.

“I am very excited. Delhi has been great and the boys have been fantastic. Definitely, I feel happy and ready,” the right-handed batter stated in a video uploaded by the franchise.

The 40-year-old du Plessis led Royal Challengers Bengaluru within the final three seasons of the IPL. However, he was not retained by RCB forward of the mega public sale final 12 months.

He was purchased by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore within the accelerated spherical of the bidding course of after he didn’t get any takers within the opening spherical.

Delhi Capitals had failed to succeed in the play-offs spherical final season.
