District Election Officer and Collector V.R. Subulaxmi inspects a counting centre at Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology in Vellore on May 3.
A four-tier security association can be in place at vote counting centres in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts on May 4 (Monday) the place sealed digital voting machines (EVMs), together with voter verifiable paper audit path (VVPAT) items, have been stored in robust rooms.
District income officers mentioned routine inspections at robust rooms the place sealed EVMs and VVPAT machines, which have been guarded by police personnel around the clock, have been performed on day by day foundation by District Election Officer (DEO) in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts. “Assigned election staff were directed to present at counting centres around 5.30 a.m on May 4. Adequate parking of vehicles for election staff and police has also been arranged. A control room with a helpline number (18004257004) is also set up at DEO office to report any election related incidents,” Vellore DEO Ms. Subulaxmi instructed The Hindu.
