French air traffic controllers strike: About 40% of flights cancelled at Paris airports

About 40% of flights have been cancelled on Friday (July 4, 2025) at all Paris airports and tens of 1000’s of passengers have been rearranging plans at the peak of the summer season journey season as a result of of a strike by French air traffic controllers searching for higher working situations. Disruptions began hitting airports round France on Thursday (July 3, 2025) and intensified on Friday (July 4, 2025.)

The nationwide civil aviation authority requested airways to cancel 40% of flights on Friday (July 4, 2025) at Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Beauvais airports serving Paris, half of flights in Nice and 30% of flights in Marseille, Lyon and another cities.

Despite the preventive cancellations, the authority warned in an announcement that disruptions and lengthy delays are to be anticipated at all French airports.

Ryanair was amongst airways that introduced widespread disruptions, saying in an announcement that it cancelled greater than 400 flights affecting 70,000 passengers. The firm stated the strike impacts all its flights over French airspace, in addition to traffic out and in of French airports, and urged the European Union to reform air traffic guidelines.
