Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas in the direction of a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip have began in Qatar, a Palestinian official conversant in the talks informed AFP on late Sunday (July 6, 2025).
“Negotiations are about implementation mechanisms and hostage exchange, and positions are being exchanged through mediators,” the official stated. The talks started at round 9:30 p.m. Jerusalem time and had been nonetheless happening, he added.
