Harbhajan Singh, the previous India off-spinner, is ready to attend the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the primary time, whereas former India captain and former BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly will return to the AGM after three years.
The duo’s title was confirmed within the draft electoral record for the BCCI election, which shall be held in the course of the AGM on September 28. Harbhajan, the 103-Test veteran and a Rajya Sabha MP, has been nominated by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA). Ganguly, set to return because the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president subsequent week, would be the CAB consultant on the AGM.
Harbhajan’s candidature might point out a potential bigger position within the BCCI administration for him. Roger Binny, who has stood down because the BCCI chief after turning 70 in July, was the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) consultant when he was elected unopposed because the BCCI president in 2022.
It shall be attention-grabbing to see if the BCCI continues its current custom of getting a famend cricketer on the helm. While Ganguly was the president from 2019 until 2022, 1983 World Cup champion Binny succeeded him.
