Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) participated within the thirty ninth Convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the place he mentioned the college, which has over 14 lakh learners, together with 56% ladies and 58% from rural and deprived communities, was a pillar of “India’s open and distance learning ecosystem”.
Referring to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vice President mentioned that IGNOU remained resilient on account of its established distance-learning mannequin and congratulated the college for successfully leveraging digital platforms resembling SWAYAM and e-GyanKosh to make sure uninterrupted studying and emergence as a chief in technology-enabled schooling.
Asking the scholars to not worry improvement, Mr. Radhakrishnan mentioned, “There were apprehensions when computers were introduced in the country, with fears that they would take away jobs; however, they ultimately generated more employment and contributed to national growth. Emerging tools such as artificial intelligence can enhance learning experiences, improve student support, and enable personalised education.”
