Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman Dr. Okay. Kasturirangan handed away in Bengaluru on April 25, 2025. He was 84 years outdated. The former area scientist’s well being had been deteriorating for every week previous to his demise.
Dr. Kasturirangan began his profession as an X-ray astronomer and went on to function Secretary, Department of Space. He made important contributions within the discipline of science, expertise and schooling by way of his educational achievements. He was conferred with Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.
He served because the fifth chairman of ISRO between 1994-2003, and likewise because the Secretary, Department of Space for over 9 years. During his four-decade-long profession in ISRO, he was a part of a number of key missions.
After retiring from ISRO, he served in numerous positions because the Rajya Sabha member (2003-09) and the Planning Commission member. He headed a number of essential committees like those on the Western Ghats and the National Education Policy.
