In the battle of his life as he tries to steer his get together again to energy, AIADMK common secretary Edappadi Okay. Palaniswami is anticipating to win a sixth time from his native constituency that has lent itself to his title. Farming is a serious occupation of the individuals of the constituency, which is situated 50 km from Salem metropolis. It covers Edappadi taluk, a portion of Mettur taluk, Konganapuram, Nangavalli and Jalakandapuram city panchayats. Weavers dwell in a sizeable quantity in these city panchayats.
The DMK gained right here in 1967 and 1971. Thereafter, the AIADMK has gained seven instances, out of which Mr. Palaniswami has gained 5 instances. He misplaced twice to the PMK in 1996 and 2006. The PMK gained in 2001 as properly. The Congress has gained twice, by itself in 1952, and as a part of the AIADMK-led alliance in 1984.
