The rupee depreciated 7 paise to 85.45 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Thursday (May 29, 2025) because the American forex strengthened after the U.S. federal court docket blocked President Donald Trump’s sweeping reciprocal tariff order, fuelling hope of ending international trade uncertainties.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the dollar’s power against a basket of six currencies, was buying and selling larger by 0.40% at 100.18.

Brent crude, the worldwide oil benchmark, climbed 1.11% to $65.62 per barrel in futures trade.

In the home fairness market, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose by 350.27 factors, or 0.43%, to 81,662.59, whereas the Nifty went up 94.05 factors, or 0.38%, to 24,846.50.
