At the core of Thamar Ok.V.‘s sophomore film Sarkeet is a literally sticky affair that pushes the limits of believability. But, it is to the credit of the makers and the actors involved that one goes along willingly with this rather unbelievable situation which propels the story forward. Thamar, going by the two movies he has made till now, appears to be adept at pulling off such uncommon occurrences in a light, engaging manner.
For about half of its runtime, Sarkeet moves along two parallel tracks, one dealing with a couple who are struggling to manage their child with a severe case of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and another on the travails of a young Malayali who has landed up in a West Asian country in search of a job.
Their child Jeppu’s (Orhan) unpredictable, hyperactive behaviour takes its toll on Stephy and Balu (Divya Prabha and Deepak Parambol), whose relationship is examined at occasions, with previous rancour resurfacing. When their world meets unexpectedly with that of jobless Ameer (Asif Ali), it will expectedly change all their lives. Although one just isn’t positive whether or not ADHD will manifest within the methods as portrayed within the movie, Sarkeet is necessary in that it sheds some gentle on situations which can be usually dismissed as simply unruly behaviour. The underlying pressure on the troubled childhood of one other character provides the drama an added heft.

Thamar debuted with 1001 Nunakal (1001 Lies) that sustained itself on the strain that builds up amid a group of mates who play a recreation throughout a get-together. In that movie, one may sense the filmmaker treading a little too rigorously with out permitting the tough state of affairs that he conjured as much as not get out of hand. The similar danger averse strategy and the reluctance to dig deeper are evident in Sarkeet the place the principal gamers all get out a little too simply from a not really easy state of affairs. This strategy maybe led to the movie hitting a little beneath than it may have, with the type of prospects supplied by the topics it tackled.
Yet, the movie does have a few emotionally excessive moments that hit the correct notes, though the movie in the long run fails to depart a lasting influence as a result of somewhat gentle remedy.

Sarkeet works primarily as a result of of the performances, most notably that of younger Orhan because the hard-to-handle Jeppu. It is a function that might simply have been portrayed in an over-the-top method, however Orhan delivers simply the required nuances for the character’s situation. Asif Ali aces it in his acquainted turf the place he’s required to painting the emotional upheavals of a struggling man caught in a unusual state of affairs. Divya Prabha and Deepak Parambol additionally pitch in with notable turns.
Sarkeet is a light-hearted drama about weighty points, which finally ends up with a lot of untapped potential.
