Scientists on the National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR) claimed to have developed designer clownfish by way of cross-breeding of two clownfish species – Amphiprion percula (male) and Amphiprion ocellaris (feminine).
The analysis findings have been printed in an article by scientists Ajith Kumar T.T. and P. R Divya on the Centre for Peninsular Aquatic Genetic Resources, which is a part of NBFGR, Kochi, within the journal Current Science.
The NBGR has the hatchery manufacturing expertise for greater than a dozen of clownfish species utilizing low saline water. The designer clownfish was produced on the hatchery on the Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Centre, Airoli, Mumbai, in line with a launch.
The Bureau had tied-up with the Tribal Development division of Tamil Nadu authorities for the livelihood promotion of the tribal neighborhood at Pichavaram and Pulicat areas. The designer clowns obtainable on the facility in Annamalai University shall be propagated and equipped to the beneficiaries of those two areas for additional rearing on cluster mode method (neighborhood aquaculture), which can present a promising return to them, it stated.
