The large speaking level heading into the Salem leg of the ninth version of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is the kind of defending champion Dindigul Dragons and final season’s runner-up Lyca Kovai Kings.
The two have had a disappointing begin to the season. While Dragons gained one and misplaced the different, Kovai Kings misplaced each.
The action-packed first leg has surprisingly been removed from a run-fest, with just one group (Chepauk Super Gillies 212 for seven vs Nellai Royal Kings) breaching the 200-run mark to this point.
Dindigul Dragons captain and former India worldwide R. Ashwin added to the drama together with his dissent over an umpiring determination throughout his group’s conflict towards the Tiruppur Tamizhans.
Among the different highlights was pacer R. Sonu Yadav’s hat-trick for the Nellai Royal Kings towards the Trichy Grand Cholas.
With all eight groups having performed two matches every, four-time champion Chepauk Super Gillies and the in-form SKM Salem Spartans have emerged as the early front-runners, at present occupying the high two spots on the factors desk.
