U.S. President Donald Trump stated he made no progress with Vladimir Putin on ending the Ukraine conflict in a name on Thursday (July 3, 2025), because the Kremlin insisted the Russian President would follow his goals within the battle.

Mr. Trump’s grim evaluation got here as U.S.-led peace talks on ending the greater than three-year-old battle in Ukraine have stalled, and after Washington paused some weapons shipments to Kyiv.

“It was a pretty long call, we talked about a lot of things, including Iran, and we also talked about, as you know, the war with Ukraine. And I’m not happy about that,” Mr. Trump advised reporters.

Asked if he had moved nearer to a deal to finish the conflict, Trump replied: “No, I didn’t make any progress with him at all.”

Mr. Trump’s view of the decision was unusually bleak. After most of his earlier 5 calls with Mr. Putin since returning to energy in January he has given optimistic stories of progress in the direction of a deal.

But he has proven growing frustration with Putin after an early pivot in the direction of the Russian chief. In current weeks he knocked again Putin’s provide to mediate within the Iran-Israel battle, telling him to focus on the Ukraine conflict as a substitute.

In Moscow, the Kremlin stated the decision lasted virtually an hour and stated that Putin had insisted he wouldn’t surrender on Russia’s objectives.

“Our president said that Russia will achieve the aims it set, that is to say the elimination of the root causes that led to the current state of affairs,” Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov advised reporters.

“Russia will not give up on these aims.”

Moscow has lengthy described its maximalist goals in Ukraine as eliminating the “root causes” of the battle, demanding that Kyiv surrender its NATO ambitions.
