India will start its Test collection towards England by taking part in the first Test on Friday (June 20, 2025). But an Indian legend’s fielding record in Tests might be toppled by an Englishman throughout the collection.
England’s Joe Root is now simply two catches away from dislodging former Indian captain Rahul Dravid for probably the most catches in Tests by a fielder.
Dravid at present leads the charts with 210 catches in 164 Tests, averaging 0.697 catches per innings. Joe Root is shut behind him with 208 catches in 153 Tests at 0.714 catches per innings.
Root is adopted by Mahela Jayawardene (205), Steve Smith (200), Jacques Kallis (200) and Ricky Ponting (196).
