Dipke’s remarks coincided with protests by the CJP, activists, and opposition parties over alleged irregularities in the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear two pleas challenging CEC Kumar’s functioning, including allegations of unilateral decision-making within the Election Commission and demands for an SIT or judicial probe. One petition seeks to declare the nationwide SIR illegal, citing alleged constitutional violations and objections raised by two Election Commissioners.
