Activists march in Thiruvananthapuram to demand Chief Election Commissioner resignation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM — Social activists, civil society representatives, and citizens took out a march from the Museum to Lok Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The demonstration was organised under the banner of the Cockroach Janata Party and the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI). According to Feroz Khan, the protest was inaugurated by activist Gro Vasu.
Participants marched toward the state capital’s key administrative hub, but were stopped by police barricades. According to Feroz Khan, “We could not go near the Lok Bhavan, but staged the protest and raised slogans near the barricades.”
Organising bodies indicated that the demonstration is part of a broader mobilization effort. The participating organisations are planning further protests in the coming days by roping in additional civil society representatives.
