The demonstration is directed against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. According to Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, the opposition alliance is taking its campaign to the streets amid allegations of voter list manipulation.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that voters’ names have been deleted from electoral rolls, rules have been broken, and votes are being stolen, adding that lathis have been used against those asking questions. “Our votes are being stolen, and we will not tolerate this quietly under any circumstances,” Gandhi stated, appealing to students, farmers, laborers, women, youth, and traders to join the national capital march.

The Delhi Police has granted permission for the demonstration and issued a no-objection certificate, with Ramlila Maidan reserved from October 25 to November 3.

Ahead of the November 1 rally, the INDIA bloc is also planning a “public impeachment” and mock Parliament event targeting CEC Gyanesh Kumar at Hotel Ashok on October 30.
