Delhi enforces security and transport restrictions for planned protest

Extensive transport restrictions and a massive security mobilization are underway across the national capital as authorities prepare for a Saturday protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
Delhi Police refused permission for the planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar due to non-compliance with required rules. The CJP has called for the protest to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, pointing to alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Opposition parties and student groups such as AISA are anticipated to back the mobilization, drawing the Election Commission into a wider political confrontation.
To manage potential crowds and block unauthorized gatherings, approximately 23,000 personnel from Central Armed Police Forces have been made available for deployment. This force includes units from the CRPF, SSB, RAF, ITBP, and CISF. Authorities have set up barricades at sensitive spots and intensified security around Parliament Street, Jantar Mantar, and other central Delhi zones.
Surveillance has been expanded with 300 additional CCTV cameras installed across the city. Law enforcement is also monitoring entry points into the capital, tracking buses capable of bringing demonstrators into New Delhi, and coordinating with educational institutions and paying guest accommodation operators due to worries over student involvement.
Public transport networks face sweeping disruptions as part of the security strategy. Police have requested the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to shut entry and exit gates at 57 Metro stations beginning at 9 pm on Friday to restrict movement toward sensitive corridors. Commuters are advised to verify official Metro updates before transit.
In addition, railway operations are impacted by an official order cancelling Mail and Express trains destined for two major Delhi railway stations. The cancellations apply to trains leaving their originating stations after 2 pm on Friday and scheduled to arrive during the specified operational window on Saturday. Passengers traveling to the capital have been advised to check train statuses with the Railways beforehand.
