The Special Task Force submitted a report to the state government detailing the institutional links, prompting internal committees at both medical institutions to launch formal investigations.

According to the STF report, Dr. Sumaira Qayoom, an additional professor in the pathology department at KGMU originally from Kashmir, played a significant role in the conversion syndicate. Her husband, Khaliqur Rahman, is a professor in the haematology department at SGPGI. Investigators stated that the couple systematically harassed and exploited Hindu medical students while showing favouritism toward Muslim students at their respective institutions.

The disclosures have triggered widespread concern across both campuses, leading to internal inquiries and preparations for punitive measures under government directives.

Security agencies and the STF have also extended their investigation to Saharanpur, focusing on the local background, educational records, and historical contacts of the accused. The inquiry has brought scrutiny to internal administration at KGMU following references in the STF report to certain institutional officials and former office-bearers.

The investigation further details connections involving Sam Anees—who has reportedly confessed to sexually assaulting 19 Hindu women—alongside Rameez, Rizwan Malik, and Adnan Ansari. Additionally, the STF report highlights Agra’s Sarojini Naidu Medical College, noting references to a group of medical students and a publication titled Islamic Medicos detailing medical batches from 2012 to 2016.

Investigating agencies are examining old academic documents, addresses, and associations formed during the medical education of those involved to piece together the broader network operating across Uttar Pradesh.
