Hundreds of farmers in the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority area are set to receive a 64.7 per cent additional compensation for land acquired between 2002 and 2013, following decisions taken at the authority’s 145th board meeting.

The move brings Greater Noida farmers on par with those in Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, clearing dues for 533 landowners who had previously missed out on enhanced payouts. The board also decided that farmers who voluntarily surrender land through mutual consent will receive facilities identical to those granted under formal acquisition.

The board meeting, held on Wednesday, approved several other welfare, infrastructure and administrative measures.

Under revised land purchase options previously finalized on August 27, landowners willing to give up land mutually can choose between two rates: ₹6,415 per square metre and ₹5,725 per square metre. Those opting for the ₹5,725 rate will receive a six per cent residential plot benefit, an entitlement not available to those choosing the higher ₹6,415 rate.

To prevent eligible families from missing out on residential plots, the board modified eligibility rules for plot allocation. The updated guidelines now include paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents, parents and parents-in-law alongside husbands and wives within the definition of a farmer’s family.

The board also cleared proposals to ease legal hurdles surrounding rural land lease-back cases. Responding to farmers’ demands, the authority prepared a proposal to waive interest on delayed deposits for lease-backs. Under current rules, delays exceeding three months incur interest, and failure to pay within a year can lead to lease cancellation. The proposed waiver requires an amendment to the rural population site management and regularization regulations and will now be forwarded to the state government for final approval. A simplified procedure for determining farmer shares before executing lease deeds was also endorsed.

In other infrastructure decisions, the board approved a lease deed for 5.48 acres of land in Chipiyana Khurd alias Tigri to rehabilitate original farmers displaced by the construction of the link road connecting the New Holland Tractor Factory in Ghaziabad to NH-24 (now NH-9). The authority will bear the expenses for these lease deeds.

To boost employment and skills, the board cleared a proposal to develop the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Skill Training and Employment Center across eight acres (32,880 square metres) of industrial plot number 1 in Sector Ecotech-1. The land will be allotted following consent from the MSME department.

Additionally, the board approved free allotment of 3,957 square metres of land for a proposed police station in Kasna within the Ecotech-1 Extension area, and sanctioned a new 220 KV power substation in Ecotech-10 to meet rising electricity demand.

The board meeting was attended by Chairman Deepak Kumar, CEO NG Ravi Kumar, Noida Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh, YEIDA CEO RK Singh, Greater Noida ACEO Soumya Srivastava, along with other senior officials including Shree Lakshmi VS, Prerna Singh, Sumit Yadav, GM Finance Swatantra Gupta, GM Projects AK Singh, OSD Lavjeet Kaur, Abhishek Pathak, and Girish Kumar Jha.
