5 crew members killed after helicopter crashes in PoK’s Gilgit-Baltistan

At least 5 crew members, together with two pilots, died on Monday (September 1, 2025) when the helicopter they had been flying crashed in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir’s Gilgit-Baltistan, officers stated.

The plane crashed in the Chilas space of Diamer district, Gilgit-Baltistan authorities spokesperson Faizullah Faraq stated in an announcement.

“One of our helicopters has crashed in Thor, Chilas,” he stated, including the crew included two pilots and three technical workers.

Diamer Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Hameed, in an announcement, stated 5 casualties occurred because of the crash. The helicopter was conducting a check touchdown on a newly-proposed helipad, he added.

The actual cause for the crash was not recognized. It is the second crash in current weeks after a helicopter of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa authorities crashed final month.
