The protest, titled ‘Janatantra Rakshanegagi Ahoraatri Dharani’, commenced at 4 pm on Friday and concluded at 10 am on Saturday. According to the Youth Congress committee, the agitation focused on demanding transparency in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and accountability from the central election body to protect every eligible citizen’s voting rights.

District minister UT Khader joined the demonstrators during the overnight sit-in, raising concerns over the voter data revision process. He questioned the handling of SIR-related data, asking who provided and printed the information, and demanded a formal investigation.

Khader stated that doubts remain regarding the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for failing to question the data distribution. He called for Kumar to resign to clear the doubts of the country’s youth and senior voters.

Members and office bearers of the Youth Congress and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), alongside party workers from across the district, participated in the demonstration.
