The electoral data comes in the wake of widespread demonstrations led by political figures and civil society groups alleging large-scale removal of names from electoral rolls. According to the Delhi CEO office, authorities have resolved approximately 2,995,000 cases out of 3.3 million individuals initially flagged during the review process. Officials noted that 212,400 Form 6 applications were filed prior to the August 31 release of the draft electoral roll, while another 158,470 applications were submitted between September 20 and October 22.

The voter revision exercise has triggered sharp political pushback. Activist and politician Yogendra Yadav alleged that 4.76 million names had been stripped from Delhi’s electoral rolls, pointing out that Form 6 submissions stood at roughly 2.5 lakh applications. Protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) procedures have spread beyond the capital, with both the Kerala and Punjab state governments passing legislative resolutions against the SIR process.

In Delhi, protests have drawn participation from more than 15 organizations under the leadership of Vrinda Karat. Similar demonstrations have occurred across various regions, accompanied by public campaigns and human chain events in cities such as Hyderabad.

The Election Commission stated that all pending claims and objections regarding the electoral rolls will be addressed by November 30. The final electoral roll for Delhi is scheduled for publication on December 4.
