The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting in Meerut, where senior Election Commission of India officials, including Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Manish Garg, evaluated poll preparations for the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. The review covered 18 districts falling under the Meerut, Saharanpur, Moradabad, and Aligarh divisions.

The electoral machinery’s focused scrutiny on registration paperwork forms part of broader administrative preparations to safeguard franchise rights and maintain roll integrity ahead of the 2027 state assembly polls.

During the sessions, Mr. Rinwa specifically instructed district magistrates and district election officers to review all Forms 6, 7, and 8 that were processed by computer assistants following the completion of the special intensive revision on April 10. To bridge gaps in voter coverage, Mr. Rinwa stated that missing voters should be identified and enrolled by cross-matching the electoral rolls of panchayat and assembly constituencies.

Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Manish Garg also laid down operational mandates for ground-level staff. Mr. Garg instructed officials to ensure that voter information slips are systematically distributed and explicitly marked in booth-level officer registers at least five days prior to polling day.

To bolster transparency and security during the electoral process, election officials announced that webcasting will be deployed across every polling station. In addition, closed-circuit television cameras are scheduled to be installed both inside and outside all polling stations for the 2027 elections.

Administrative leadership at the district level received further operational directives during the review. District magistrates and superintendents of police were instructed to carry out joint inspections of polling party departure zones and material storage hubs. Officials must also keep essential basic facilities at polling stations updated in real time using the ECINET application.

Addressing media and public communication management, the election administration directed that complaints received via social media require prompt attention and factual responses. Authorities added that any false or misleading news flagged online must be referred directly to the cyber cell for appropriate action. Flying surveillance teams and static surveillance teams will be deployed across all districts as election preparations progress.
