Election Commission revises electoral roll revision schedule for multiple states

NEW DELHI — The Election Commission has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across Maharashtra, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, and Nagaland.
The adjustments follow direct requests submitted by the chief electoral officers of the concerned states.
These timeline extensions alter crucial administrative deadlines for voter list verification and roll publication. In Maharashtra, where the draft roll was released on August 31, the deadline for filing claims and objections has been extended from October 26 to November 13. The notice phase and the disposal of these claims will now run until November 25, leading up to the publication of the final electoral roll on November 30.
In Delhi, the window for filing claims and objections has been moved from October 30 to November 25. The subsequent disposal of claims has been pushed from November 30 to December 15, with the final roll publication now scheduled for December 22. Specific extended dates for Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, and Nagaland were not detailed in the announcement.
The timeline adjustments fit into a broader pattern for the electoral body. The schedule for the Special Intensive Revision exercise has been pushed on multiple occasions in the past due to a variety of operational reasons.
