NEW DELHI: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has extended its formal support to the INDIA bloc’s upcoming

NEW DELHI — The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has extended its formal support to the INDIA bloc’s upcoming November 1 rally at Ramlila Maidan, which demands the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The political mobilization follows a recent media report flagging alleged irregularities and the mass exclusion of eligible voters during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which commenced in June 2025. According to reported figures, at least 13 crore voters have been removed across India since the revision process began.
Announcing the decision on X, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke stated that the election revision process has raised serious concerns regarding voter eligibility. The party alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) was undermining the fundamental principle that “people should choose their government, rather than the government choosing its voters.” The CJP further asserted that Gyanesh Kumar has lost the institutional trust required to oversee free and fair elections.
The planned demonstration highlights mounting friction surrounding electoral roll management. Internal tensions have also surfaced within the election body itself; two election commissioners, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, reportedly raised 14 objections over a 10-month period following the rollout of the SIR, including four objections lodged on a single day regarding key aspects of electoral management.
In response to the mounting scrutiny, the Election Commission of India has maintained that all of its SIR orders were approved unanimously.
The INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan is scheduled for November 1 to press forward the demand for CEC Kumar’s resignation.
