Student Leader Neha Bora Refuses Peace Bond for Fourth Time in Election Commission Protest Case

NEW DELHI — All India Students’ Association (AISA) President Neha Bora has refused for the fourth consecutive time to sign a peace bond ordered in connection with protests directed against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The Special Executive Magistrate Court has summoned Bora for the next hearing in the proceedings on November 20, 2026.
The legal proceedings stem from police action following demonstrations in New Delhi regarding alleged irregularities in the Election Commission. Following her detention on October 16, a notice was issued to Bora on October 17 under Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), requiring her to furnish a personal bond of Rs 10,000 alongside one surety.
Bora subsequently challenged the police show-cause notice and subsequent summons before the Delhi High Court. Her legal counsel argued that she had committed no crime and had not engaged in any activity constituting a breach of the peace. According to court submissions, Bora maintained that she was not involved in the specific protest called by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP).
The Delhi High Court dismissed her petition challenging the notice and summons on October 23. With Bora continuing to refuse the peace bond requirements, the matter returns to the Special Executive Magistrate Court next month.
